“I think a number of the leaders are, whether you like it or not, in the hip-hop generation.
And when they understand enough, they’ll do wonders. I count on them.”
Leadership isn’t apart of genetics, its character. It is the foundation of a persons true self to achieve the ultimate. In a generation now where things are more attainable than ever before the idea of being a leader has evolved. Someone can represent being a “Boss” without any real credentials and behind social media it has become even harder to differentiate who really is Grinding. It has been said that you can not be a true leader if you don’t give people something to substantially follow. Leaders are suppose to be knowledgeable and experienced to direct others to opportunities and help the greater good of their people. These skills are special because it takes devotion, determination and getting to know your purpose in life to acquire such attributes.
As the hip hop generation takes a new course into being the voice of change leaders have to stand firm together to build a foundation. Anyone who knows me can tell you I speak about the key component of having a “foundation” especially here in Dallas-Fort Worth where there isn’t one. The days are over where we sit and complain about what shoulda, coulda, woulda, but never happened to our entertainment scene. We have to finally take the responsibility and push the culture forward, our culture. This foundation is not something that is of adversity to just Dallas, but to the underground as a whole. U.N.I.T.Y speaks more than what Queen Latifah says about respecting women, but more about the togetherness. The problem is the survival tact of Eat or be Eaten is definitely what has and will continue to torment us. The collaborative effort to get on one accord as a CITY is not impossible. Due to the fact that there is no go to mechanism, home record label or a huge voice of reasoning Dallas is all over the place and consequently we have planted a lot of seeds with no Trees. We have people that are in positions that they can’t even facet because of overnight success. This can not continue to happen. We need Leaders. We need people that are willing to put in the work and that do not mind following because of the bigger picture. I know its easier said then done especially when has been said time and time again. I challenge you to speak up. Don’t be quite. Take pride in your position. I’m proud to see brands get together to work for the circular comrade of DFW. As leaders you are teachers as well. You can not expect someone to know something if they’ve never been taught any other way. Build businesses and put people to work, create marketing groups, blogs, youth associations, radio stations whatever it takes to push the city forward. I am asking that we come together, we sit at round tables, host mixers & networking events, & cross promote. It isn’t about who has done it first, but who was more affective. If 1 wins we all win.
Music. Power. Respect.
